IMD sees cold wave to severe cold wave in parts of Madhya Pradesh Tue, Wed

MUMBAI – Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are expected in parts of western Madhya Pradesh Tuesday and Wednesday, while cold wave conditions are likely in the same region Thursday and Friday, the India Meteorological Department said. Cold wave conditions are also likely to prevail in parts of eastern Rajasthan and eastern Madhya Pradesh from Tuesday to Thursday, in Chhattisgarh, Marathawada, Telangana, and central Maharashtra on Tuesday and Wednesday, and in Vidarbha on Tuesday, the department said.
Shallow to moderate fog conditions are expected over northeast India during the week, the weather department said. No significant change in minimum temperature is likely over the plains of northwest India, central, east, and north peninsular India in the next two days, after which they could rise by 2–3 degrees Celsius, the department said.
The low pressure area over the southwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Sri Lanka is likely to slowly move west-northwestwards in the next 24 hours, the weather bureau said. Under its influence, light to moderate rainfall with a few spells of heavy showers are likely over parts of Tamil Nadu from Tuesday to Sunday, over Kerala till Thursday and over the weekend, and parts of Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema till Tuesday, the bureau said. Very heavy rainfall is expected over parts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Thursday to Saturday, it said.
Another low pressure area is likely to form over the southeast Bay of Bengal around Saturday, which is expected to move west-northwestwards and become more marked in the subsequent 48 hours, the bureau said. End
