--SEBI Pandey: Consultation paper after review of listing, settlement norms

MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India has started reviewing norms around settlement, listing and disclosure requirements, seeking to making these simpler. A consultation paper on the same will soon follow but the process will "take some time", SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said on the sidelines of an event in Mumbai.

When asked about the timeline for the consultation papers, Pandey said, "Will not be able to give you time because there is a diverse agenda." Speaking on a similar issue, Pandey said in his speech at the event, "A comprehensive review of SEBI regulations is underway...this exercise (is) intended to eliminate redundancy, remove ambiguity."

Going forward, Pandey expects the number of investors in the securities market to double in the next three-five years. He said SEBI's survey had found that there was greater interest among Indian households to invest in the capital market.  End
