MUMBAI – Cold wave conditions are likely over pockets of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, and eastern Rajasthan till Sunday, the India Meteorological Department said. Shallow to moderate fog conditions are expected over parts of northeast India and Uttar Pradesh in the next five days, the weather department said.

No significant change in minimum temperatures is expected in western India in the next 24 hours, after which they could fall by 3–4 degrees Celsius, the weather department said. No major changes in minimum temperatures are likely over the rest of the country in the next five days, it said.

Currently, an upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southern Sri Lanka and the adjoining southwest Bay of Bengal, while another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over southern Bangladesh and its neighbourhood, the weather bureau said. Under the influence of these two weather systems, a few spells of heavy rainfall accompanied by thundershowers are likely over Tamil Nadu and Kerala till Tuesday, over Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema on Monday and Tuesday, and over the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from Sunday to Wednesday, the department said.  End
