Cabinet calls Delhi car blast an act of terrorism, directs speedy probe

NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet at its meeting Wednesday pronounced Monday's car explosion in Delhi as an act of terrorism, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also held a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security Wednesday.

 

"The Cabinet directs that the investigation into the incident be pursued with the utmost urgency and professionalism so that the perpetrators, their collaborators, and their sponsors are identified and brought to justice without delay," Vaishnaw said. "The situation continues to be closely monitored at the highest levels of the government."

 

The explosion, which occured Monday evening, claimed 10 lives. The Delhi Police has booked the case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.  End
