NEW DELHI – Federal Bank Tuesday bought 32 million shares of Ageas Federal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. from Ageas Insurance International NV for INR 974.40 million, the bank said in an exchange filing. Federal Bank now holds 30% share in Ageas Federal Life Insurance, up from 26% earlier.
The life insurance company is a joint venture between Ageas, a Europe-based insurance company, and Federal Bank. Ageas holds the remaining 70% stake in the life insurer. The bank had received the approval from the Reserve Bank of India in March to buy 4?ditional stake in Ageas Federal Life Insurance.
Shares of Federal Bank Tuesday ended 1.1% lower at INR 235.89 on the National Stock Exchange. End
