MUMBAI – Agrochemical products company PI Industries Ltd. reported a sharp fall in its bottom line and top line for the September quarter owing to a sharp decline in exports, subdued domestic demand, and price corrections in key products. The company posted its biggest on-year fall in revenue since the third quarter of the financial year 2015-16 (Apr-Mar). Its net profit has fallen three times in the past four quarters, barring the fourth quarter of FY25, when it was almost flat.
PI Industries reported a net profit of INR 4.91 billion for the September quarter, down over 12% on year. Analysts had expected the company to post a net profit of INR 3.79 billion. The company's revenue from operations during the quarter declined around 18% on year to INR 17.53 billion. Analysts had expected the company to earn a revenue of INR 18.40 billion.
The company's total expenditure during the reporting quarter fell nearly 20% on year to INR 12.18 billion, mainly because of a sharp fall in the cost of raw materials and other expenses. The company's cost of material consumed fell around 9% on year to INR 8.39 billion. Its other expenses fell over 5% to INR 2.42 billion.
For the six months ended Sept. 30, the company posted a net profit of INR 9.55 billion on a revenue of INR 35.22 billion. Its net profit for the period fell nearly 10% on year and its revenue from operations declined 15% on year. The company declared its September quarter results after market hours. Tuesday, shares of PI Industries closed 0.9% lower at INR 3,786.80 on the National Stock Exchange. End
