SEBI panel tasked with reviewing conflict of interest norms submits report

--SEBI committee submits report on review of conflict of interest norms
MUMBAI – A high level committee constituted by the Securities and Exchange Board of India to review the conflict of interest provisions submitted its report to the chairman on Monday, according to a press release by the regulator. SEBI had consituted the commitee to look at conflict of interest, disclosures and related matters in respect of members and official of SEBI in the aftermath of allegations against former Chairman Madhabi Puri Buch.
The committee was set up to review the existing policies around conflict of interest and find any gaps or ambiguites. It was also tasked with recommending a framework to prevent and manage conflict of interest, and suggest a mechanism for public to raise concerns of conflict of interest.
The committee was made in March with former chief vigilance commissioner Pratyush Sinha as the chairman and former corporate affairs ministry secretary Injeti Srinivas as vice chairman. The committee also included Kotak Mahindra Bank Director Uday Kotak, former whole-time SEBI member G. Mahalingam, former deputy comptroller and auditor general Sarit Jafa, and former IIM Bangalore professor R. Narayanaswamy. End
