NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah and took stock of the situation following the bomb blast in the capital a few hours back, government sources said Monday. At least eight people were killed and several injured in a blast near the Red Fort metro station in the national capital, according to news reports. Several cities, including Delhi, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh have been put on high alert after the blast, reports said.
Asian News International said 15 people were brought to the Lok Nayak Hospital. "Eight of them died before reaching the hospital. Three are seriously injured. One is in stable condition: Medical Superintendent, Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital to ANI," the news agency said on social media platform X.
The news agency also said that Home Minister Shah immediately spoke with the Delhi Police Commissioner after the incident and teams from the National Security Guard, National Investigation Agency, and the forensic department were rushed to the spot.
According to the reports, the blast took place near Gate 1 of the metro station, which is close to the Chandni Chowk market and is usually crowded in the evening. The area has been cordoned off and several fire tenders were immediately deployed. End
