NEW DELHI – Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya will chair a two-day national conference of labour and employment ministers and industry ministers of states and Union Territories in the national capital beginning Tuesday. Labour and industry secretaries of states and Union Territories will also attend the conference, the labour ministry Monday said in a release.
The focus of the conference will be the employment-linked incentive scheme, the PM Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana. The ministers will launch the online cess collection system for building and other construction workers, the ministry said.
"A primary focus will be the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rojgar Yojana (PMVBRY), where the active role of States in leading outreach and aligning their employment programmes with this national initiative will be instrumental," the ministry said. "The conference will also strategise on universalising social security by harmonising data sharing mechanisms and integrating state welfare schemes with central digital platforms like the e-Shram portal."
The National Labour and Employment Policy, whose draft was released by the central government in October, could also be taken up at the conference. "Some new Legislative and policy initiatives of the Ministry of Labour & Employment will also be discussed with the representatives of State Governments," the ministry said. Minister of State for Labour and Employment Shobha Karandlaje and Labour Secretary Vandana Gurnani will also attend the conference. End
