MUMBAI – Technical analysts are positive on the automobile stocks and expect them to gain in the coming week. Investors will continue to focus on the earnings of a slew of companies that are yet to report their September-quarter numbers. So far, six Nifty Auto companies have declared their September quarter results, with Mahindra & Mahindra and Escorts Kubota being the latest. Results of Hero MotoCorp, Ashok Leyland, Bosch, Eicher Motors, and Samvardhana Motherson International are due next week.

Friday, the Nifty Auto closed at 26779.55 points, up 0.6%. For this week, Hero MotoCorp and Maruti Suzuki India fell the most, while Mahindra & Mahindra and Sona BLW Precision Forgings saw the highest gains.

Analysts are positive that the current financial year will see positive growth across vehicle categories, and ICICI Securities expects the tractor segment to outperform. "The sector's momentum is likely to remain firm in H2FY26 (Oct-Mar), aided by above normal monsoons, healthy reservoir levels, higher minimum support prices, and the recent goods and services rate reduction, all of which are supporting rural income and farmer sentiment," Nirmal Bang said in a report. "Timely Rabi sowing and favourable Kharif harvest progress should further underpin tractor demand going ahead," the brokerage added.

On Friday, the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations said that rural India became the true growth engine,
with favourable monsoons, higher farm incomes, and government infrastructure push driving purchasing
power. Rural passenger vehicle sales in October grew over three times faster than urban sales, while rural two-wheeler sales growth was nearly double the urban rate.

The trend for the Nifty Auto remains positive, and the index appears strong on the charts, Nandish Shah, technical analyst at HDFC Securities, said. He expects the sectoral index to move between 27000 points and 26300 points.
