EIA says US natural gas stocks rise 33 bcf in week ended Oct 31

MUMBAI – US natural gas inventories rose 33 billion cubic feet in the week ended Oct. 31, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was over 4% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report. 

 

The total gas in underground storage was 3.91 trillion cubic feet as of Oct. 31, down 0.2% from a year ago. The stocks were 162 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 3.75 trillion cubic feet, the report said. 

 

Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. The east region saw a fall in inventory, while midwest, mountain, and south central, which includes salt and non-salt regions, and Pacific regions, saw a rise in inventory, according to the report. At 1115 IST, the most-active December contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was up nearly 1% from the previous close at $4.398 per million British thermal units.  End
