Central Bank to buy Future group's remaining stake in Generali insurance cos

NEW DELHI – Central Bank of India is set to buy the remaining stake of Future Corporate Resources Pvt. Ltd. in Generali Central Life Insurance Co. Ltd. and Generali Central Insurance Co. Ltd., the bank informed exchanges Thursday. Central Bank's equity stake in Generali Central Life Insurance and Generali Central Insurance will rise to 26% each from 25.18% and 24.91%, respectively, once the acquisition is completed, the lender said.

 

"...we are pleased to inform that the Central Bank of India has been declared as Successful Bidder by Committee of Creditors (CoC) for sale of assets of Future Corporate Resources Private Limited (FCRPL) i.e. Equity Stake of 0.82% held by FCRPL in Generali Central Life Insurance Company Limited (GCLICL) and Equity Stake of 1.09% held by FCRPL in Generali Central Insurance Company Limited (GCICL) under Regulation 29 of the IBBI (Insolvency Resolution Process for Corporate Persons) Regulations, 2016," the bank said.

 

Central Bank in June bought 25.18% stake in Future Generali India Life Insurance and 24.91% stake in Future Generali India Insurance. In August, Central Bank and the Generali group, which holds the remaining 74% stake in the two insurance companies, announced the rebranded Generali Central Life Insurance and Generali Central Insurance. Shares of Central Bank of India Thursday closed 2.7% lower at INR 38.11 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
