Amber Enterprises posts consol net loss in Jul-Sept

MUMBAI – Amber Enterprises India Ltd. Thursday reported a net loss for the September quarter, after a sharp double-digit on-year growth in its bottom line in the Apr-Jun quarter. The company's top line fell slightly on year in the September quarter while overall expenses rose marginally during the quarter. Both the key metrics missed the Street's estimate for the quarter.

 

The company reported a net loss of INR 328.57 million for the September quarter, after reporting a consolidated net profit of INR 192.04 million in the year ago quarter. Analysts had estimated the net profit for the September quarter at INR 236.33 million. The company reported a consolidated net revenue of INR 16.47 billion, down over 2% on year. This was also lower than INR 18.22 billion estimated by analysts.

 

Total expenditure rose nearly 2% on year to INR 17.03 billion, despite the cost of raw materials consumed, which accounts for almost 75% of the total expenditure, falling nearly 4% on year to INR 12.71 billion. The company reported an inventory gain of INR 18.38 million for the quarter, compared to an inventory gain of INR 479.47 million in the year-ago quarter. The company's finance costs shot up over 58% on year to INR 769.34 million. Other expenses of the company rose nearly 5% on year to INR 1.56 billion and employee costs rose over 18% to INR 907.08 million in the September quarter. 

 

The company's net profit for the June quarter had risen 44% on year to INR 1.04 billion, on consolidated revenue of INR 34.49 billion. On Thursday, shares of Amber Enterprises ended nearly 1% higher at INR 7,832.50 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
