NEW DELHI – Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will visit Auckland Wednesday to participate in the fourth round of negotiations between India and New Zealand for a free trade agreement. The fourth round began Monday.

Goyal will meet New Zealand's Minister of Trade Todd McClay and hold discussions, the commerce ministry said in a release. "The visit reflects the shared commitment of both countries to expedite the FTA process and build a more comprehensive and mutually beneficial economic partnership," the ministry said.

During the visit, Goyal will participate in a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening trade, investment, and innovation linkages between India and New Zealand, as per the release. "These include a dedicated interaction with prominent members of the New Zealand business community and the visiting Indian business delegation, facilitating greater collaboration between the private sectors of both countries."

New Zealand and India restarted talks on a free trade agreement in March, a decade after the first round of negotiations fell through. The two countries had first started working on the agreement in April 2010 but the talks stalled in February 2015 because of disagreements over market access and trade priorities. The two sides have held three rounds of talks so far.  End
