MUMBAI – Though the low pressure area over the Arabian Sea lost intensity in the early hours of Monday, the associated cyclonic circulation is likely to cause thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds over most parts of western India from Wednesday to Friday, the India Meteorological Department said. The presence of a trough in the westerlies is also likely to contribute to such weather in these regions, the weather department said.

A western disturbance acting as a trough lies to the northwest of the country, which is likely to cause scattered to fairly widespread rainfall or snowfall over parts of the western Himalayan region Tuesday and Wednesday, the weather department said. Light rainfall is also likely over parts of Punjab and Haryana during the same period, the department said.

In southern India, a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms is likely over most parts of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema from Tuesday to Thursday, and over parts of Karnataka Wednesday to Friday, the weather department said.

No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over northwest and central India in the next 48 hours and thereafter a gradual fall of 2–4 degrees Celsius is seen in the subsequent three to four days. In east India, minimum temperatures are likely to fall gradually by 2–3 degrees Celsius in the next three days, the weather department said.  End
