MUMBAI – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. reported a double-digit on-year rise in its overall sales in October as strong growth in domestic sales led by robust festive demand offset the decline in exports. The company's overall sales hit a record high of 61,295 units last month, indicating a growth of nearly 27% on year and around 1% from September.

Of the total despatches, the Safari-maker sold 61,134 units to domestic dealerships, up over 27% on year and over 2% from the previous month. This was also the highest volume of passenger vehicles sold by the company in a month. Its exports, on the other hand, fell nearly 45% on year and over 87% on month to 161 units.

Electric vehicle sales in October rose over 73% on year and 1% from previous month to 9,286 units, marking a new record high. Growth in this segment was supported by strong customer preference for its expanding EV portfolio, the company said.

For the June quarter, Tata Motors, now Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles, had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 39.24 billion on consolidated revenue of INR 1.04 trillion. On Friday, shares of Tata Motors, which now trades without the value of its commercial vehicle business, closed 0.6% lower on the National Stock Exchange at INR 410.   End
