Hyundai Motor India's domestic sales down on-year in Oct, but rises on month

MUMBAI – Despite the recent cut in goods and services tax rates by the government, domestic sales of Hyundai Motor India Ltd. fell 3% on year to 53,792 units in October, the company said in its monthly sales report Saturday. However, the company's domestic sales rose 22% on month from 51,547 units in September.
"At Hyundai Motor India, we witnessed robust market demand and high consumer enthusiasm leading to second highest monthly sales of our formidable SUV duo – the Hyundai CRETA and VENUE combined, with 30,119 units sold," the company's Whole-time Director and Chief Operating Officer Tarun Garg said in a note.
However, the company's exports during the month were up nearly 11% on year at 16,102 units. On a monthly basis, exports fell over 2% from 18,800 units in September. The company's total sales for the month were largely steady on year at 69,894 units.
The company reported a consolidated net profit of INR 15.72 billion for the quarter ended September, on a revenue of INR 174.61 billion. On Friday, its shares ended over 1% higher at INR 2,438.70 on the National Stock Exchange. End
