MUMBAI – Escorts Kubota Ltd. sold 18,798 tractors in October, clocking a near 4% on-year growth and marking the highest-ever monthly sales volume. Of this, 18,423 units were sold to domestic dealerships while 375 were sold overseas, the company said in a monthly business update Saturday. The company's international tractor sales jumped over 38% on year, while its domestic sales grew a little over 3% on year in October.
"Tractor industry continued positive momentum in October, driven by increased demand due to preponement of the festive season, consistent government support, reduced GST (goods and services tax) rate coupled with favourable agricultural conditions and ample water level in the reservoirs," the company said. While extended rains in some states have damaged harvested crop and impacted sowing, demand is expected to remain stable during the rabi season, the company said, reinforcing its positive outlook for the tractor industry.
For the seven months ended October, the company's overall tractor sales grew nearly 12% on year to 83,256 units. Domestic sales during the period grew over 10% to 79,600 units, while exports rose nearly 49% on year to 3,656 units.
Sales of its construction equipment fell nearly 29% on year to 452 units in October. In Apr-Oct, its sales fell over 22% on year to 2,653 units. The construction equipment industry is facing challenges from the extended monsoon and slow mobilisation of infrastructure projects on the ground, the company said. However, it expects the industry to recover in the second half of 2025–26 (Apr-Mar) with government infrastructure investments and new projects being started across the nation. "Industry momentum is expected to pick up gradually and we aim to be prepared to take the opportunity," Escorts Kubota said.
For the quarter ended June, Escorts Kubota reported a net profit of INR 3.73 billion on revenue of INR 24.83 billion. On Friday, the stock closed nearly 2% higher on the National Stock Exchange at INR 3,786.50. End
