MUMBAI – The Union Cabinet Tuesday approved a proposal of the Department of Fertilizers to fix the nutrient-based subsidy rates on phosphatic and potassic fertilisers for the rabi season 2025-26, effective from Oct. 10 to Mar. 31, according to an official release. The tentative budgetary requirement for the rabi season is INR 379.52 billion, around INR 7.36 billion more than the budgetary requirement for the kharif 2025 season.

The subsidy on phosphatic and potassic fertilisers, including di-ammonium phosphate and nitrogen, phosphorus, potash, and sulphur grades will be provided based on rates approved for the rabi season to ensure smooth availability of these fertilisers to farmers at affordable prices, as per the release.

The government is providing 28 grades of phosphatic and potassic fertiliers to farmers at subsidised prices through fertiliser manufacturers and importers, according to the release.  End
