MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department said a cyclonic storm is likely to form over the southwest and adjoining westcentral Bay of Bengal by early Monday which is likely to bring extremely heavy showers to Andhra Pradesh on Monday and Tuesday. Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of southern India and Odisha during the next week.

 

The cyclonic circulation over the southeast Bay of Bengal on Thursday has intensified into a low pressure area over the same region Friday. The latter is likely to intensify into a depression by Saturday and then into a deep depression by Sunday. This deep depression will further intensify as a cyclonic storm by early Monday, the weather bureau said.

 

The depression over the Arabian Sea will continue to move north-northeastwards across eastcentral Arabian Sea. This is likely to bring heavy showers over parts of the West Coast. The weather department said heavy rainfall is likely over Konkan and Goa till Saturday. As the weather system moves north, similar weather conditions are also likely over Gujarat during the weekend.

 

A fresh western disturbance is likely to impact the western Himalayan Region from Monday. The weather bureau expects the minimum temperature in east Uttar Pradesh to fall by 2–3 degrees Celsius during the next two days.  End
