Coal ministry issues vesting orders for 3 commercially auctioned blocks

MUMBAI – The nominated authority in the Ministry of Coal issued vesting orders for three coal blocks under commercial coal block auctions Thursday, according to a press release from the ministry. The three coal blocks are Rajgamar Dipside (Deavnara), Tangardihi North, and Mahuagarhi, according to the release.

 

The Coal Mine Development and Production Agreements for these blocks were signed on Aug. 21. Two of these blocks are partially explored and one is fully explored with peak rated capacity of around 1 million tonne per annum. The total geological reserves of these three blocks are around 1.5 billion tonnes, as per the release. These blocks are expected to generate an annual revenue of nearly INR 1.90 billion and attract capital investment of INR 1.5 billion.

 

These are also expected to provide employment to around 1,352 people directly and indirectly, it said. With the issuance of these vesting orders, a total of 130 coal blocks have now been vested or allocated under commercial coal auctions. Collectively, these blocks account for a cumulative peak rated capacity of around 267.24 million tonnes per annum, which is estimated to generate annual revenue of approximately INR 377.0 billion and provide employment to nearly 361,301 people directly and indirectly, according to the release.  End
