Can Fin Homes' Q2 PAT beats view on higher interest income

MUMBAI – A high single-digit rise in Can Fin Homes Ltd.'s interest income primarily boosted its overall Jul-Sept revenue and net profit. It also helped the company beat Street estimates for its net profit for the September quarter.
The housing finance company's interest income rose over 9% on year to INR 10.43 billion in the September quarter due to improved loan rates. The financier's net profit for the quarter stood at INR 2.51 billion, up nearly 19% on year and over 12% on quarter. Analysts had estimated the company's net profit at INR 2.30 billion. The net interest income rose 19% from the year-ago period to INR 4.04 billion. Sequentially, the metric rose 11%. This was also higher than analysts' estimate of INR 3.73 billion. The company's total income was INR 10.49 billion.
The home financier's total expenses for Jul-Sept rose to INR 7.18 billion, up a little over 4% on year. The company's finance costs, which account for nearly 89% of the expenses, rose to INR 6.39 billion from INR 6.15 billion in the year-ago quarter. Employee benefit expenses rose nearly 50% on year to INR 432.61 million, but fees and commission expenses fell to INR 30.23 million from INR 79.81 million. Provisions for expected credit loss and write-offs were down nearly 78% on year at INR 30.70 million.
The financier's gross non-performing assets ratio as of Sept. 30 was 0.94%, up from 0.88% reported in the year-ago period. Its net non-performing assets ratio stood at 0.48%, up from 0.47% in the corresponding period last year.
The company's net interest margin rose to 4.02% as on Sept. 30, from 3.75% a year ago. In the previous quarter, the net interest margin was 3.64%.
For the first half of 2025–26 (Apr-Mar), the company's net profit grew 15.6% on year to INR 4.75 billion. Interest income rose to INR 20.54 billion from INR 18.79 billion a year ago.
The company released its quarterly results on Saturday. Shares of Can Fin Homes closed 0.4% lower at INR 801.05 on the National Stock Exchange on Friday. End
