MUMBAI – The Nifty Bank may continue its upward momentum next week as festive cheer is expected to lift the mood of the market, analysts said. The index will also be driven by earnings of index heavyweights on Saturday. "Next week, Indian markets would be in a festive mood amid a truncated trading week on account of Diwali. Overall, we expect market to continue its up-move, supported by healthy Q2 (Jul-Sept) earnings so far, robust festive demand, optimism over a potential India–US trade deal and renewed FII (foreign institutional investors) buying in recent sessions," Siddhartha Khemka - head of research, wealth management, Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd. said.

The Nifty Bank hit a new all-time high of 57,828 this week, marking a 10,000-point rally from its March 2025 lows, supported by stable credit growth expectations and improving asset quality. The sectoral index rose 2.0% this week and closed at 57713.35 points Friday, with most of its constituents ending with gains. IndusInd Bank was the top gainer on Friday. The stock rose 1.6%. On other hand, Punjab National Bank fell the most and was down 2.1%. Both banks are scheduled to declare their earnings for the September quarter on Saturday.

Among the Nifty 50 banks, HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank will announce their earnings on Saturday. HDFC Bank, the largest private sector lender, is expected to report a 4.1% rise in net profit for the September quarter at INR 175.11 billion. ICICI Bank is expected to report a 4.8% rise in net profit for the September quarter at INR 123.15 billion, according to analysts' estimates.

In its technical view, Bajaj Broking Research said, "Bank Nifty formed a strong bull candle with a higher high and higher low signaling strength. Index in the process rallied to a fresh all-time high. Going ahead bias remain positive and index to head towards 58,500 and 59000 levels in the coming sessions, with immediate support placed at 57000-56700 levels being the recent low and recent gap area."
