NEW DELHI – The Delhi bench of the National Company Law Tribunal Thursday admitted Bank of India's insolvency petition against TDT Copper Ltd. for an unpaid amount of INR 1.54 billion. The tribunal appointed Shailesh Chandra Ojha as the interim resolution professional of TDT Copper to carry out the functions as per the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016.

The tribunal said that Bank of India's insolvency plea was complete in all respects as required by law. "The petition established that the corporate debtor is in default of a debt due and payable and that the default is more than the minimum amount stipulated under Section 4(1) of the (Insolvency and Bankruptcy) Code, stipulated at the relevant point of time," said the tribunal added.

TDT Copper had availed loans from Bank of India from time to time. However, the company defaulted on its loan obligations in 2019. Following this, the bank moved the tribunal to start insolvency proceedings against TDT Copper.

Thursday, shares of Bank of India ended 0.7% lower at INR 125.42 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
