HYDERABAD – The Andhra Pradesh government has approved Bharat Electronics Ltd.'s plan to build an integrated defence manufacturing complex in Gorantla, Sri Sathya Sai district, at an investment of INR 25 billion, a source in the state industrial department told Informist. The state government has issued orders approving the project and offered several incentives to the company based on achieving certain milestones, the source said.
According to the application submitted to the Andhra Pradesh government by Bharat Electronics, the company will set up a defence systems integrated complex at Palasamudram village in Gorantla at an investment of INR 14 billion in the first phase and INR 11 billion in the second. The state government has allotted 913.99 acres of land to the company for the project, the source said.
In line with the Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Policy – 2024-29, the state government will provide capital subsidy of up to 45% on the proposed capital expenditure on the unit. The subsidy will be disbursed on meeting certain investment milestones and spread over 15 years from the date of commencement of operations. Bharat Electronics expects to complete both the phases of the project by March 2029.
At 1039 IST, shares of Bharat Electronics were at INR 407.65 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.4% from the previous close. End
