MUMBAI – Bharti Airtel Ltd. has entered into a strategic partnership with Google, Inc. to set up India's first artificial intelligence hub and data centre at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the company said Tuesday in a press release. In a separate press release, Adani Enterprises Ltd. said its joint venture AdaniConneX will also partner with Google to set up the AI data centre campus and new green energy infrastructure in Visakhapatnam.
The hub will be established at an investment of $15 billion by Google over five years starting 2026, Bharti Airtel said in the press release. The New Delhi-based telecommunications company will establish a data centre and cable landing station to host Google's new international sub-sea cables, which will join its terrestrial and sub-sea infrastructure.
Raiden Infotech India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Google, has awarded the order to Bharti Airtel. The Investment Promotion Board of the Andhra Pradesh government had on Oct. 8 approved the Google subsidiary's proposal for a data centre project in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of INR 875 billion, as per the press release.
Bharti Airtel will also create a robust intra-city as well as inter-city fibre network as part of the project, aiming to deliver a faster experience for Google users and customers, the company said in the release. Bharti Airtel had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 59.48 billion for the June quarter on a consolidated revenue of INR 494.63 billion. At 1449 IST, shares of the company were marginally down at INR 1,947 on the National Stock Exchange. End
