Kotak Mahindra Bank's arm Sonata Finance merges with BSS Microfinance

NEW DELHI – Sonata Finance Pvt. Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank, has merged with another arm of the bank, BSS Microfinance Ltd. With the merger, Sonata Finance has ceased to be a subsidiary of Kotak Mahindra Bank, the bank said in an exchange filing Saturday.
The boards of Sonata Finance and BSS Microfinance had approved the amalgamation of the two entities in August 2024. "The bank has, today (Saturday), received an intimation from BSS that, after having received the requisite approvals of the respective shareholders and creditors of Sonata and BSS and the approval of the concerned National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the above-mentioned Scheme has been made effective on October 11, 2025," Kotak Mahindra Bank said.
BSS Microfinance and Sonata Finance both acted as business correspondents for the bank and provided microfinance, unsecured small-ticket loans, and small-value secured loans to women borrowers and individuals on behalf of the bank.
Shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank Friday closed 0.3% higher at INR 2,150.10 on the National Stock Exchange. End
