AHMEDABAD – Adani Energy Solutions Ltd. sold 2.65 billion units of electricity in Jul-Sept, nearly 2% higher than 2.61 billion units sold a year ago due to the early onset of monsoon. The company, which distributes power to consumers in Mumbai through its subsidiary Adani Electricity Mumbai Ltd., saw a rise in demand from the industrial sector during the quarter. However, it saw a fall in usage by residential customers.

Industrial demand accounted for 14% of the total volume of electricity sold by Adani Energy in the September quarter, as against 11% in the year-ago period. Demand from the commercial segment remained unchanged at 38% in volume terms, while demand from residential consumers was at 48% in Jul-Sept, down from 51% a year ago.

The slight rise in the demand for power from the industrial sector in terms of volume changed the segment-wise revenue for the company in the September quarter. While industrial users accounted for 13% of the revenue for Adani Energy in Jul-Sept, 38% of revenue came from the commercial segment and 49% from residential. The share in revenue from the industrial and residential segments was higher than the year-ago quarter, while that of commercial users was lower.

The average system availability for transmission stood at 99.46%, compared with 98.91% a year ago. The consumer base of the company rose to 3.25 million in Jul-Sept, from 3.17 million a year ago, mainly due to new customer additions in the Mumbai circle.

The company's total transmission network at the end of the September quarter was 26,705 circuit km, up 15% from 23,269 circuit km as of Sept. 30 last year, the company said in a notice to the stock exchanges Friday. The rise of 3,436 circuit km over the year was because of new order wins, the company said.

In a presentation on its operational performance for the quarter, Adani Energy said its power transformation capacity, or total capacity of transformers installed, at the end of September quarter has risen to 97,236 mega volt amperes, from 70,686 mega volt amperes a year ago.

As of Sept. 30, the company had total of 30 operational projects, with a network of 19,642 circuit km and worth INR 537.29 billion. It has 13 under-construction projects worth INR 600 billion which will add 7,063 circuit km to its portfolio. Adani Energy hopes to complete these projects in a phased manner by June 2029.

Other than transmission lines, the company installed 1.84 million smart meters during the September quarter, taking the total mark to 7.4 million smart meters. Adani Energy also has 10 pending orders to install 24.6 million smart meters over 120 months at a cost of INR 295.2 billion. The company aims to install a minimum 10 million meters cumulatively by end of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar).

On Friday, shares of Adani Energy ended 0.7% lower at INR 925.85 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
