MUMBAI- JSW Steel Ltd. reported consolidated crude steel production of 7.90 million tonnes for the September quarter, up 17% on year and 9% on quarter, according to an exchange filing by the company Friday. This was the highest-ever quarterly consolidated production of crude steel, the company said.

 

The company's crude steel production from Indian operations improved to 7.66 million tonnes, up 16% on year and 9% on quarter. 

JSW Steel USA-Ohio produced 240,000 tonne crude steel in the latest quarter, largely unchanged from the same quarter a year ago. 

 

The company's consolidated Apr-Sept crude steel production was up 16% on year, at 15.16 million tonnes. Its crude steel production operations in India were responsible for most of this growth, rising 15% on year to 14.69 million tonnes.

 

Capacity utilisation for the company's Indian operations increased to 92% in the September quarter as compared with 87% in the June quarter. The company said that its wholly-owned subsidiary JSW Vijayanagar Metallics Ltd. had commissioned its second convertor on Aug. 30, taking the company's overall operational crude steel capacity in India to 34.20 million tonnes per annum. JSW Vijayanagar Metallics's five million tonnes per annum capacity operation had a utilisation of 88% by September.

 

For the June quarter, JSW Steel reported a consolidated net profit of INR 21.84 billion on a revenue of INR 431.47 billion. At 1022 IST, shares of the company were down nearly 1% at INR 1,165 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
