Source says SEBI Whole-time Member Ananth Narayan's term ended Thu

NEW DELHI – The term of Securities and Exchange Board of India Whole-time Member Ananth Narayan G. at the market regulator ended Thursday, a source inside SEBI who was familiar with the development told Informist. Narayan had joined SEBI as a whole-time member on Oct. 10, 2022 and his appointment by the government carried a maximum tenure of three years unless extended further.
Narayan was handling the market intermediaries regulation and supervision department at SEBI along with the foreign portfolio investors department, integrated surveillance department, and other departments. Prior to joining SEBI, Narayan was an associate professor at S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai.
Another Whole-time Member Ashwani Bhatia's term had ended on May 31. The government has so far not appointed any whole-time member after Bhatia's exit.
Currently, Amarjeet Singh and Kamlesh Chandra Varshney are the other whole-time members on SEBI's board, apart from chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey. In addition, there are two part-time members on SEBI's board - Deepti Gaur Mukerjee, who is secretary at the corporate affairs ministry, and Anuradha Thakur, who is secretary at the department of economic affairs in the finance ministry.
