MUMBAI – New Delhi signed a 350-million pound sterling (INR 41.82 billion) deal with London to procure defence equipment, the UK government said Thursday. Both parties sealed the pact during UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's two-day official visit here.

Under the agreement, the UK will provide lightweight multirole missiles built in Belfast to the Indian Army, the UK government said in a release. The deal paves the way for a broader complex weapons partnership between the UK and India, currently under negotiation between the two governments, the release said.

Both sides also signed an implementing agreement to advance collaboration for electric-powered engines for naval ships with an initial investment of 250 million pound sterling from India, the release said. The Indian government is yet to issue a formal statement on the deal.  End
