Indian cos invest $4.42 bln in overseas JVs, arms in Sept, up 70% on month

NEW DELHI – Investment by Indian companies in their overseas joint ventures and subsidiaries jumped 70% on month to $4.42 billion in September, according to data released by the Reserve Bank of India on Tuesday. Outward foreign direct investment by Indian companies was $2.60 billion in August and $4.82 billion in September 2024.

 

Of the total overseas investments in September, companies invested $2.57 billion in equity, higher than $1.00 billion invested in the previous month. Companies committed $952.32 million in loans in September against $551.20 million in August.

 

Companies also invested $892.46 million through guarantees to their overseas arms and joint ventures, which was down 15% on month. The data, based on online reporting by authorised dealer banks, is provisional and subject to change, the RBI said.  End
