MUMBAI – PayPal and the National Payments Corp. of India announced a partnership for the integration of the Unified Payments Interface into PayPal World, an upcoming global digital wallet platform. PayPal World is likely to be launched by the end of 2025 with UPI integration, said Ritesh Shukla, chief executive officer of NPCI International Payments Ltd, at the Global Fintech Fest.
PayPal World will allow cross-border payments and interoperability between local wallet systems across several parts of the world. UPI will be the first payment platform provider to be added to PayPal World, PayPal CEO Alex Chriss said. He said it would reduce the cost and hassle of cross-border transactions by allowing users to use the convenience of a local wallet for international transactions, and connect billions of merchants and consumers.
