EIA says US natural gas stocks rise 53 bcf in week ended Sept 26

MUMBAI – US natural gas inventory rose 53 billion cubic feet in the week ended Sept. 26, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration. The inventory was 5% higher than the five-year average for this time of the year, the agency said in its weekly report.
The agency recorded total gas in underground storage at 3.56 trillion cubic feet as of Sept. 26, marginally up by 0.6% from 3.54 trillion cubic feet a year ago. The stocks were 171 billion cubic feet higher than the five-year average of 3.39 trillion cubic feet, the report said.
Total working gas remained within the five-year historical range. The east, midwest, mountain, and Pacific regions saw a rise in inventory. In south central, the salt regions saw a decline in inventory, but in the non-salt region there was a rise in inventory, according to the report.
At 1304 IST, the most active November contract of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange was down 0.6% from the previous close at $3.420 per million British thermal units. End
