MUMBAI – TVS Motor Co. Ltd. said Wednesday it recorded sales of 541,064 units for the month of September, up 12% from a year ago. This signifies growth of nearly 6.2% in sales over August. In an exchange filing, the company said its total exports grew 10% on year to 122,108 units. However, total exports fell on a monthly basis by 9.8%.

 

The company registered its highest ever quarterly sales of 1.51 million units in the September quarter, with two-wheeler sales rising 22% on year to 1.45 million units. Its total exports during the quarter rose 30% on year to 400,000 units.

 

The company's two-wheeler sales in September grew 11% on year to 523,923 units. Domestic two-wheeler sales grew 12% to 413,279 units. Within two-wheelers, motorcycle sales grew 9% on year to 249,621 units while sales of scooters grew 17% on year to 218,928 units. Two-wheeler exports grew 8% on year to 110,644 units.

 

TVS Motor's electric vehicle segment reported sales growth of 8% on year to 31,266 units in September. A year ago, the company had sold 28,901 electric vehicle units. "Magnet availability continues to pose challenges in the short to medium term," the company said in a statement. Sales of the company's three-wheelers grew 60% on year to 17,141 units in September. A year ago, TVS Motor had sold only 10,703 three-wheeler units.  

 

For the June quarter, TVS Motor Co. had reported a net profit of INR 7.79 billion on a revenue of INR 100.81 billion. Wednesday, its shares closed 0.6% higher at INR 3,457.80 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
