NEW DELHI - Two-wheeler manufacturer Hero MotoCorp Ltd.'s domestic sales rose 5% on year to 647,582 units in September, according to data on a press release by the company on Wednesday. In the nine months up to September, the company's domestic sales declined 2% on year to 2.88 million units.
Export sales of Hero MotoCorp jumped 94% on year to 39,638 units in September, while in the nine months up to September, they were up 54% on year at 175,997 units, the data showed. Total sales across domestic and export markets were at 687,220 in September, up 7.9% on year, and these were nearly flat at 3.06 million units for the nine months up to September.
Of the total sales of 687,220 units in September, motorcycle sales accounted for a large portion at 626,217 units, up 4.8% on year, while scooter sales jumped 54% to 61,003 units. Out of the 3.06 million units of total sales for the nine months up to September, motorcycle sales were at 2.80 million, down 1.9% on year, while scooter sales were at 255,506 units, up 29%.
The company said showroom and dealership footfalls more than doubled on year in September, "with significant traction observed in the high-volume commuter segment". Festival demand and the new Goods and Services Tax benefits aided the higher footfalls in September, the company said.
Shares of Hero MotoCorp closed at INR 5,432.50 on the National Stock Exchange on Wednesday, down 0.7%. End
