Cabinet approves INR 58.62 billion outlay for 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas

NEW DELHI – The Union Cabinet approved INR 58.62 billion outlay for opening 57 new Kendriya Vidyalayas under the civil sector for the children of central government employees across the country, the government said Wednesday in a press release. The outlay will be spread over nine years from 2026-27 (Apr-Mar).

 

Of the total outlay, INR 25.85 billion will be towards capital expenditure and INR 32.77 billion for operational expenditure, the government said. Currently, there are 1,288 functional Kendriya Vidyalayas, including three abroad, with a total student enrolment of about 1.36 million, according to the government.  End
