NEW DELHI – The government has reduced the price of domestically produced natural gas for October by 0.4% to $6.96 per million British thermal units on a gross calorific value basis, the oil ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell said in a notification. The price of domestically produced natural gas was $6.99 per mBtu in September.
The natural gas produced by Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. and Oil India Ltd. will be subjected to a ceiling of $6.75 per mBtu on a gross calorific vale basis, according to the notification.
The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas had in April 2023 amended the New Domestic Natural Gas Pricing Guidelines, 2014, to integrate several recommendations of the Kirit Parikh committee on gas pricing. The revised guidelines mandate domestic natural gas to be priced at 10% of the Indian crude oil basket price and announced on the last day of every month for the following month.
By another notification dated Tuesday, the government also announced a ceiling on domestically produced natural gas price at $9.72 per mBtu for Oct-Mar of 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). End
