MUMBAI – Tata Motors Ltd.'s UK-based subsidiary Jaguar Land Rover late Thursday clarified that sections of its digital estate are now running after the cyber security incident which left its operations halted. The recovery programme is firmly underway, JLR said in a statement attached to an exchange filing made by its parent company.
JLR is now working on clearing the backlog of payments to its suppliers "as quickly as we can", it said. The global parts logistics centre, which supplies the parts distribution centers for its retail partners in the UK and the rest of the world, is now returning to full operations, JLR said. With this, it expects its retail partners to continue providing service to its clients' vehicles. Further, it confirmed that its financial system has been brought back online and that it is able to sell and register vehicles. JLR is currently working alongside cybersecurity specialists, UK government's National Cyber Security Centre and law enforcement to ensure safe restarting of its operations.
The clarification came after media reports said the Jaguar-maker would incur a bill of 2 billion sterling pound (around INR 237 billion) owing to the cyber attack on the company earlier this month. Reports said that the operations at JLR's factories will be halted till Oct. 1 following the incident.
For the June quarter, Tata Motors had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 39.24 billion on a revenue of INR 1.04 trillion. At 1236 IST, its shares were over 2% higher at INR 678.05 on the National Stock Exchange. End
