--Cabinet OKs INR 18.66 bln for railway productivity-linked bonus 

 

NEW DELHI - The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs Wednesday approved productivity-linked bonus equivalent to 78 days' wages for railway employees, amounting to INR 18.66 billion, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. The payout, which comes just ahead of the festive season, will benefit 1.09 million railway employees. 

 

"The payment of PLB (productivity-linked bonus) acts as an incentive to motivate the railway employees for working towards improvement in the performance of the railways," the railways ministry said in a release. The maximum payable amount of the bonus equivalent to 78 days' wages for each eligible railway employee is INR 17,951, the release added.  

 

The amount is paid to various categories of railway staff like track maintainers, loco pilots, train managers and guards, station masters, supervisors, technicians, technician helpers, pointsman, ministerial staff and other group 'C' staff.  End
