India receives 12% above normal rainfall of 6.0 mm Tuesday, says IMD

MUMBAI – India received 6.0 millimetres of rainfall Tuesday, 12% above normal of 5.3 millimetres for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. So far in the current season, the country has received 899.7 millimetres of rainfall, 7% above normal rainfall for the period, according to the weather department's data.
Of all the four homogeneous regions in the country, two received above normal rainfall Tuesday and two recorded below normal rainfall. Rainfall over east and northeast India was 20% below normal at 8.0 millimetres. Rainfall over northwest India was 96% below normal at 0.1 millimetres. Central India recorded 10.1 millimetres of rain, 102% above normal. Rainfall over south peninsula India was 24% above normal rainfall at 6.3 millimetres, as per the data.
Of 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in seven, "excess" in four, "normal" in four, "deficient" in seven, "large deficient" in eight. Six subdivisions received no rainfall. End
