HYDERABAD - Former chief executive officer of Switch Automotive Mobility Ltd. S. Mahesh Babu will join as the managing director of Olectra Greentech Ltd. in the next 1–2 days, a source told Informist.
In June, Olectra Greentech chairman and managing director K.V. Pradeep had resigned citing personal reasons. Though there is no official word, restructuring of ownership in Olectra Greentech's parent Megha Engineering & Infrastructure Ltd. resulted in Pradeep's exit. Since then, the company had been in search of a suitable top executive to spearhead its electric buses and trucks business. Olectra is also looking to enter electric car manufacturing in partnership with China's BYD group, but plans have not yet materialised.
Mahesh Babu had resigned from Switch in June and was relieved on Aug. 31 to pursue other opportunities. Switch has filled the position by bringing Ganesh Mani of Ashok Leyland. Prior to Switch, Mahesh Babu served as MD and CEO of Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd. and also chaired the electric mobility group at the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers.
At 1310 IST, shares of Olectra Greentech traded at INR 1,683.60 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.4% from their previous close. End
