EPFO corpus tops INR 28 tln, number of subscribers touches 78.3 mln

NEW DELHI – The total corpus of the Employees' Provident Fund Organisation has risen to over INR 28 trillion from INR 7.39 trillion in 2014, Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said Thursday. The number of contributory members has risen to 78.3 million from 32.6 million in 2014, and the number of establishments under the ambit of EPFO has increased to 798,000 from 345,000 in 2014, Mandaviya said at a press briefing.
The total claims settled have risen to 60.2 million from 12.3 million in 2014. The EPFO has introduced 'Passbook Lite', which allows members to view contributions, withdrawals, and current balance directly on the member portal, the labour ministry said in a release. End
