Tata Motors Altroz first in hatchback segment to get 5-star safety rating

MUMBAI – Tata Motors Ltd. Wednesday said its premium hatchback Altroz has got five-star safety rating under the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme across petrol, diesel, and compressed natural gas powertrains. "It (Altroz) has made history by becoming the first car in its segment and body style to achieve the highest 5-star safety rating under the Bharat NCAP protocol across all its powertrains," the company said.
Altroz scored 29.65 out of 32 in adult occupant protection and 44.9 out of 49 in child occupant protection, the company said in a statement. It is also the only CNG-powered car to secure the highest safety rating, the company added.
The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme was launched Aug. 22, 2023, to improve road safety by increasing safety standards for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes in India. It also aims to promote healthy competition among original equipment manufacturers to build safer vehicles.
For the June quarter, Tata Motors had reported a consolidated net profit of INR 39.24 billion on a revenue of INR 1.04 trillion. Wednesday, its shares closed 0.8% higher at INR 719.15 on the National Stock Exchange. End
