MUMBAI – Bandhan Bank Ltd. has sold 153.93 million shares worth INR 3.31 billion in YES Bank Ltd. to Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp., the bank informed the exchanges Wednesday. Bandhan Bank sold the shares at a rate of INR 21.50 per equity share to the Japanese multinational banking group, as per the filing. This brings Bandhan Bank's shareholding in YES Bank to 0.2% from 0.7%.

 

In August, the Reserve Bank of India had approved Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corp.'s proposal to acquire up to 24.99% of the paid-up share capital or voting rights of YES Bank.

 

For the June quarter, YES Bank's net profit had surged nearly 60% on year to INR 8.01 billion while Bandhan Bank's net profit had slumped 65% on year to INR 3.72 billion. Wednesday, shares of YES Bank ended 0.7% higher at INR 21.15 on the National Stock Exchange. Shares of Bandhan Bank ended 1% higher at INR 164.28.  End
