India receives 38% above normal rainfall at 7.3 mm Wednesday, says IMD

MUMBAI – India received 7.3 millimetres of rainfall Wednesday, 38% above the normal of 5.3 millimetres for the period, according to the India Meteorological Department. So far the current season Wednesday, the country has received 869.1 millimetres of rainfall, 8% above the normal for the period, according to the weather bureau's data.
All the four homogeneous regions of the country received above-normal rainfall Wednesday. Rainfall over south peninsular India was 16% above normal at 7.2 millimetres. Rainfall over northwest India was 17% above normal at 3.0 millimetres. Central India recorded 7.6 millimetres of rain, 39% above normal. East and northeast India recorded 57% above-normal rainfall at 14.9 millimetres, as per the data.
Of 36 subdivisions in the country, rainfall was "large excess" in 11, "excess" in seven, "normal" in four, "deficient" in seven, and "large deficient" in six. One subdivision received no rainfall. End
