--FSIB recommends Ravi Ranjan for position of MD in SBI
NEW DELHI – The Financial Services Institutions Bureau Thursday recommended Ravi Ranjan for the position of managing director at State Bank of India. Currently, Ranjan is a deputy managing director at SBI.
The bureau interacted with nine candidates on Thursday for the position of MD at SBI before selecting Ranjan. If appointed by the government, Ranjan is likely to replace Vinay M. Tonse, whose tenure as SBI MD is scheduled to end on Nov. 11.
The Financial Services Institutions Bureau is an autonomous government body that recommends personnel for appointments on the boards of banks and other financial institutions.
SBI reported a net profit of INR 191.60 billion for the June quarter, up 12.5% on year and 2.8% sequentially. Shares of the bank Thursday ended 0.7% higher at INR 823.65 on the National Stock Exchange. End
