MUMBAI - The India Meteorological Department said very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of west India during this weekend. Very heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of east and central India during this week, it said.
The rainfall is expected mainly due to an upper air cyclonic circulation over south Odisha and adjoining north costal Andhra Pradesh in lower tropospheric levels, the weather bureau said. This is also likely to lead to heavy rains over west India during the weekend, private weather agency Skymet said. The cyclonic circulation is likely to move inland slowly, positioning itself over Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Telangana at the end of this week and increase rainfall intensity over Maharashtra, it said.
The weather department also sees very heavy rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha during the week. The weather agency also sees isolated heavy rainfall over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Vidarbha this week.
Another upper-air cyclonic circulation lies over Sikkim and neighbourhood in lower tropospheric levels, which is likely to cause very heavy rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, and Meghalaya from Friday to Tuesday. End
