--Bajaj Auto to cut 2-wheeler prices by up to INR 20,000 on lower GST 

--Bajaj Auto to cut three-wheeler price by up to INR 24,000 on GST relief 

 

NEW DELHI – Bajaj Auto Ltd. Tuesday said the company will pass on to customers the full benefit of the cut in goods and services tax rate. This would lead to a reduction of up to INR 20,000 in prices of the company's two-wheelers and up to INR 24,000 on its three-wheeler range. The new prices will be effective Sept. 22 and can be availed on Bajaj and KTM motorcycles and Bajaj three-wheelers at dealerships across India, the company said in an exchange filing.

 

Two-wheelers with engine capacity up to 350 cubic centimetres currently attract 28% GST, which will be reduced to 18% from Sept. 22. Two-wheelers with engine capacity exceeding 350 cubic centimetres will now attract a flat tax rate of 40% with no compensation cess, compared to the current levy of 28% and a compensation cess.

"Two- and three-wheeler mobility is the backbone of livelihoods and fulfils many family aspirations," said Bajaj Auto Executive Director Rakesh Sharma. "At Bajaj Auto Ltd., we are delighted to support the initiative, making our vehicles more affordable just as the festive season begins."

 

For the quarter ended Jun. 30, Bajaj Auto had reported a net profit of INR 20.96 billion on a revenue of INR 125.84 billion. Tuesday, the company's shares closed 0.5% lower on the National Stock Exchange at INR 9,383.  End
