NEW DELHI - India and Qatar may finalise the terms of reference for a free trade agreement by next month, a top commerce ministry official said. Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal may also visit the Gulf nation on Oct. 6 to discuss the trade deal, the official added.
After the United Arab Emirates and Oman, Qatar is the third country from the Gulf Cooperation Council to initiate discussions for a trade pact with India.
New Delhi has already signed a trade deal with the UAE and is likely to conclude the negotiations with Oman very soon.
Meanwhile, India and Qatar have set the target to double the bilateral trade by 2030. India exported goods worth $1.68 billion to Qatar in 2024-25 (Apr-Mar) and had imports worth $12.46 billion from the Gulf nation. End
